The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has expelled Sengezo Tshabangu from the party after a disciplinary hearing found him guilty of multiple charges, including defying the party’s leadership and undermining its constitution.

According to Willias Madzimure, the CCC national spokesperson Tshabangu attended the hearing in person and was represented by his lawyer, Advocate Kucaca Phulu.

The National Disciplinary Committee ruled against him on four counts, citing breaches of party rules and regulations.

The committee found Tshabangu guilty of defying party leadership, he was accused of unilaterally making changes to CCC’s parliamentary portfolio holders in November and December 2024, without the approval of party President or any official organ of the party.

He allegedly announced these changes to state institutions without first seeking approval from the party leadership.

His actions, according to the committee, damaged the reputation of CCC.

Tshabangu made what the committee termed “derogatory remarks” against the party leadership in public media.

Following these findings, the committee ruled for his immediate expulsion from the CCC.

Speaking on the verdict Madzimure said “This ruling reaffirms the party’s commitment to upholding discipline and unity within its ranks. Tshabangu’s actions were in direct contravention of our constitution, and the party had no choice but to take decisive action.”

Tshabangu has yet to respond publicly to the verdict.

The expulsion marks another chapter in the country’s shifting opposition
